Y’all, talk about a SMALL world! I couldn’t believe the connection Lauren and I had before we’d even met in person! It was so fun to start off this beautiful family lifestyle portrait session knowing this about her!
Lauren emailed me about doing some family photos several months back. We chatted through email a bit and I learned that she lived right around the corner from me. Pretty cool! I didn’t think much of it except that I was excited to meet her. We scheduled a time for photos and I was looking forward to a session at their house…one of my favorite historical homes!
If you know me or have read my “about me” page, you’ll know that I’ve lived a good number of places- from the midwest to the south to Eastern Europe and back. My parents have traveled even more than that and mingled in many different circles. At this point, you could say we’re pretty good at networking by now. The more you travel the more you start to realize how we all really are connected through a person or two. It’s SO crazy and super cool! Well little did I know, Lauren and I would have one of the crazy connections.
I was talking to my mom about Lauren and how I’d be doing photos for her and her family. To my surprise, my mom already knew about Lauren and that she lived down the road…because you know, small town stuff. Nothing’s a secret. It turns out that Lauren’s aunt was my babysitter in St. Louis, YEARS ago after my mom was off maternity leave and went back to work. Her aunt watched me every single day while my mom was teaching and they’ve been long time friends. WHAT?! How does that happen.
THEN I find out that Lauren is originally from West Plains, MO, a small town way out (I know because I’ve been there!) where one of my good friends (who I met living in Bulgaria) grew up. Like, REALLY? And we all end up in tiny ole York a block away from each other. HOW does that happen? Nothing can surprise me anymore…
Outside of the weird connection I had to Lauren before I even knew her, we totally hit it off! Talking to her felt like talking to an old friend and I loved hearing about Lauren’s heart for children in need of loving homes; something that is also close to my heart. Lauren and her husband Josh make a beautiful couple and they have the sweetest little redheaded kiddos. And no, I’m not just saying that. This family is truly full of love and laughter. If you didn’t know, taking photos isn’t really a toddler’s cup of tea, but Huxley and Olive were troopers and I loved seeing their brother-sister relationship shine. This was truly such a fun session all around. I love being able to go into client’s homes and capture a small part of their life.
Don’t wait any longer. You have to see the cuteness for yourself! Enjoy!
