It was just a few short months ago I was in Nashville, exploring the city with Johanna and Niko while shooting their engagement photos. I can’t believe that in 5 days they will be husband and wife!
Johanna and I met in Bulgaria (10ish years ago..) where we were both missionary kids. Although she is a few years younger, we spent the majority of our time together and soon had a big sis/little sis relationship. We were 2 of the only 4 girls in our school, so we had to all stick together 😉 I realized this summer that the last time I had seen Johanna was 5 years ago in Nashville. We were celebrating the wedding of another missionary friend from Bulgaria. While we haven’t kept up regularly, it only took minutes before Johanna and I were reminiscing about all our old adventure and throwing around inside jokes.
I met Niko for the first time during their engagement session and I was excited to hear more about his background. He had spent some time in Bulgaria one summer which I thought was so cool and important. My husband came to visit me in Bulgaria while we were dating as well and it really helped him better understand my background. I was happy that Niko could have some of the same experiences. It was quickly evident though that Niko and Johanna compliment each other beautifully! My favorite part about their relationship is their ability to have fun and be goofy together. That always makes my job easier 🙂 !
I’m so excited Johanna asked me to come to Nashville to do their photos. It was a last minute trip…but us missionary kids seem to work best that way. Plus, I’ll always jump at the chance for a weekend getaway! Unbeknownst to us, it happened to also be the same weekend of the Country Music Awards Music Festival, but we made it work! We pushed through the crowds, found some awesome scenic spots, ran into Abe Lincoln, and of course grabbed some great food afterwards. It was such a fun trip that I wish could have been longer.
