A year from now, Aly and I will share a bond like no other. She doesn’t know it yet. She won’t understand it for awhile but give it a couple years and Aly will know exactly what I’m talking about. Y’all, Aly is a senior and she’s going to Erskine College!
What’s that you ask? Oh, it’s the tiny college in Due West, SC.
Where’s that you ask? In the middle of nowhere.
Why is it special you ask? Because I went there!
Ok, so? SO, Aly has unforgettable experiences, special friendships, and an Erskine bond waiting ahead of her.
But let’s back track. It’s really been more recently that Aly has become not just a client, but a friend. Aly and I go to church together and while I’ve spent some time with her over the past few years, I didn’t know her very well. Having the chance to do her senior photos changed all of that! Aly and I got together, went shopping, drank coffee, and had a chance to really get to know each other. We brainstormed some ideas on what kind of photoshoot to do and we decided to go urban AND country. Living in a small town just down the road from Charlotte, NC makes that possible!
So on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we were off to the artsy area in Charlotte known as Noda. We only circled the area 10 times looking for parking and prayed we wouldn’t get a ticket. (Also, I feel it’s important to note that I successfully parallel parked for the first time since my driving test!) Aly and I found some really beautiful mural walls and interesting shops. We really just had so much fun exploring and enjoying time together. And let me tell you, this girl is a natural! Aly hardly needed any posing help and knew how to work the camera.
While this beautiful senior can take a stunning photo, my favorite thing about her is her passion and free spirit. I may be 8 years older than Aly, but we were able to talk and relate to each other like old friends. Aly is the girl that can be friends with anyone and will travel across the world with you in a moments notice. She’s an amazing athlete, friend, and servant. She juggles school (taking college courses!), family time, music, working as a nanny, sports, time with friends, and church. Aly is an incredible harp player, lacrosse player, and swimmer. Her passion for people and loyalty to her friends doesn’t go unnoticed. She truly is such a special girl!
Next year at this time, Aly will be a freshman at Erskine College with a lacrosse scholarship! I know her family is so proud of all of her accomplishments and the beautiful young lady she has become, both inside and out. She has a bright future ahead of her and I can’t wait to see the forever friendships she creates while attending Erskine. I hope a few years from now I can refer to Aly as a fellow Erskine graduate!
Show her some love y’all! She deserves it!
